Uninstalling Notes 8 Beta silently

You can uninstall Lotus Notes 8 Beta silently.

Uninstall cannot complete if Notes is running during uninstall.

Each user's data directory and workspace will be left to preserve data.

Shut down the Lotus Notes 8 application before starting the uninstall procedure.

Run the uninstall as an administrative or root user.

Windows

You can uninstall Lotus Notes 8 Beta silently from Windows.

1. Ensure that Lotus Notes 8 is not running.

2. Open a command prompt window.

3. Change to the directory in which the installation package uninstaller resides or specify the full path to

the MSI file.

4. Run the uninstall command to silently uninstall Lotus Notes 8 -- sample syntax is shown below:

msiexec /x "Lotus Notes 8.0.msi" /qn

Linux

You can uninstall Lotus Notes 8 Beta silently from Linux.

1. Ensure that Lotus Notes 8 is not running.

2. Open a Linux shell.

3. Change to the directory in which the uninstaller resides or specify the full path to the uninstaller.

4. As the root user, run the following command to silently uninstall Lotus Notes 8:

install

dir

>/uninstaller.bin -silent

Cleaning a previous Notes 8 Beta installation from your client

If you experience a problem installing this IBM Lotus Notes 8 Beta 3 on a system on which a previous, or

the current, beta have been installed, some troubleshooting suggestions are provided below. In all

instances, be sure to uninstall any previous Beta version before installing or upgrading to this Lotus Notes

8 Beta 3. Uninstall instructions are provided in the release notes supplied with each beta. If, after

uninstalling your beta release, you continue to experience problems installing IBM Lotus Notes 8 Beta 3,

use the manual cleanup instruction provided below.

Note: If you attempted to install IBM Lotus Notes 8 Beta 3 before removing an earlier beta version , you

should first use the cleanup instructions for Beta 3, located at the bottom of this document and then use

the cleanup instructions for Beta 2 or earlier shown directly below this note .
